# Sendix: check the plan your setting has to deliver

Find EHCP wording too vague to deliver or review, see the rule behind it, and approve or reject a fix. In Scotland, find Child's Plan wording that doesn't yet say who, what or by when, with the guidance behind each flag and the questions that close each gap. Scottish IEP targets are checked against Education Scotland's IEP guidance.

Sendix checks education and support plans: EHCPs in England, and Child's Plans in Scotland. For EHCPs it flags provision and targets that are not specific, measurable or quantified, cites the basis for each finding, drafts a rewrite from evidence already in the file, and exports the agreed Section F changes as a Word amendment with tracked changes for the council. A professional decides every change.

## What it checks

- **England:** EHCPs, under the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015. How the EHCP review works: https://sendix.ai/ehcp-review.md
- **Scotland:** Child's Plans, checked against GIRFEC practice guidance (not statute). Sendix flags each gap, cites the guidance and asks what would close it; a practitioner writes the wording in the school's own template. More: https://sendix.ai/childs-plan-review.md
- **Scotland:** Individualised Educational Programmes (IEPs). Each target is checked against Education Scotland's IEP guidance (practice guidance, not statute); Sendix asks the questions that would close each gap and suggests measurable wording and an accessible first-person version built only from what the plan already says. Anything the plan doesn't give (who, how often, by when, how it's measured) is left as a gap for staff, never invented. More: https://sendix.ai/iep-review.md

## How it works

1. **Diagnose.** Sendix reads the plan and the file behind it (reports, the child's views, the review history) and flags wording that is too vague to measure or to rely on. Each finding states its basis, for example that Section F provision must be detailed and specific and should normally be quantified (SEND Code of Practice 2015, chapter 9, "What to include in each section of the EHC plan"), and that the council must secure the provision the plan specifies (Children and Families Act 2014, s.42(2)). The SMART check on targets is Sendix's own; the SEND Code describes outcomes as specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound (para 9.66).
2. **Fix.** It drafts a SMART rewrite from evidence already in the file, and says what evidence is missing rather than guessing.
3. **Decide.** A professional accepts, edits or rejects each change. Nothing is accepted on their behalf.
4. **Export.** For EHCPs, the agreed Section F changes are exported as a Word document with tracked changes, deletions in red and additions in green, for the setting to send to the council. Only the council can amend the plan.

## Examples (fictional plans)

**England, EHCP.**

- **Before:** "Ava will make progress with her communication skills over time."
- **Finding:** "make progress" and "over time" cannot be measured. No skill named, no starting point, no measure and no review date (SEND Code of Practice 2015, para 9.66).
- **Proposed (a tracked change; staff accept, edit or reject it):** "By March 2027, Ava will follow a two-step spoken instruction in class without it being repeated, in four out of five observed opportunities. This term it is one in five."
- **Still to confirm:** the file gives the baseline, not the rate of progress, so "four in five by March" needs confirming with Ava's speech and language therapist.

**Scotland, Child's Plan.**

- **Before (Action):** "Mia will get support with her reading as needed." Responsible service: "School".
- **Finding:** no action, frequency or accountable person. The GIRFEC Child's Plan practice statement (guidance, not statute) expects a plan to say who provides support, who is accountable and how it is provided.
- **Resolution:** Sendix lists what is missing and the questions that would close each gap; a practitioner writes the wording.

**Scotland, IEP.**

- **Before (short-term target):** "Ava will develop her social skills."
- **Finding:** not measurable. It doesn't say what will be different, how it will be measured, who supports Ava, or by when, and there is no accessible version (Education Scotland IEP guidance, not statute).
- **Questions:** "What does Ava do at break now, and on how many days does she join a game? She joins in when an adult sets up a game: what would success at break look like? Who supports her at break, and how often? How will staff record it, and when is it next reviewed?"
- **Suggested (a draft for the meeting with the child and family):** "Ava will join a small-group game at break with up to two classmates, supported by [role], on [number] of 5 days a week by [review date], up from [days a week now]. Measured by [observation method], reviewed termly." Accessible version: "I will play a game with one or two friends at break, with [role] nearby."

## What a setting takes to the council

A school can't amend an EHCP; only the council can (SEND Code of Practice 2015, paras 9.193–9.198). Sendix produces an evidence-backed Section F amendment request, with tracked changes, to send with the annual review report or as a request to amend. Until the council amends the plan, staff keep delivering the provision as written.

## Who it is for

SENCOs and inclusion leads in mainstream and special schools, FE colleges, multi-academy trusts, and local authority SEND and ASN teams in England and Scotland.

## Data protection

The school, trust or council is the data controller; Sendix is the processor and acts only on its instructions. Sendix administrators cannot see plan text through the application. Walkthroughs use fictional plans. The DPO's questions are answered in full at https://sendix.ai/data-protection.md.

## Pricing

England: the first step, a check of 2 or 3 fictional EHCPs, is free. Scotland: the walkthrough is free, and Scottish pilot terms are agreed with each organisation. How pricing works: https://sendix.ai/pricing.md.
